Swoon-Along With Us This Spring

Happy New Year Bee-ers. We had a packed to the rafters January Sewing Bee meeting today at St Anne's in Wendover. Despite biblical torrents of rain, hail and thunder a record number of you ventured out to join us in the (rather too?) warm St Anne's Hall for a little zen corner of calm and lovely sewing after the hectic few weeks that Christmas inevitably brings.

Rather happily, by the time that the Bee was over, the sun had come out and was rather gloriously reminding us that spring is coming. And what is more springy than the thought of a new sewing project to mull over?

If you'd like to get your teeth into a new project and would like to do it with the help and support of friends, then our Swoon-Along is for you. We will be making a fun modern quilt top which uses big, bold blocks that finish at 24inches square. Make 4 for a throw or all 9 for an 80x80 inch kind size bed quilt.

This pattern is called Swoon and it is by Camille Roskelley. To join in you will need a copy of the pattern, which I will go through how to get hold of here in the UK at the Feb Bee.

This is a free project to get involved with, you will need your own copy of the pattern and to supply fabric. We will run through what you will need at the Feb Bee's and I will post online a copy of the handout for anyone who can't make it to the Bee. You'll then have a month to get organised and I will demo how to make the block in March. There is absolutely no timeline to this project. You can take all year or more to make the quilt. There's no deadlines, no rules, nothing. Just the opportunity to work on something along with others and enjoy the creative journey together! I hope you'll join up and Swoon-along with us! debs x

ps You don't need to do the project to visit the Bee - this is an optional extra for those who would like to join in! There will still be lots of other sewing, crochet, embroidery, lacemaking, knitting, felting and tapestries going on as usual ( and that lot was just today's talented bunch!!)
